Mumbai routes
Hello,
I'm leaving for Mumbai tomorrow for work. And the opportunity was to nice not to book an extra week to stay there for some R&R (roaming&riding). But everything happened at such short notice I didn't really have to to plan anything. So the question: I go from Mumbai to ride for a week and have to make a loop back. Wich direction do I go? The obvious one (Goa)? Or North/West. And any particular routes to check out? THX Pieterjan |
Hello Pieterjan.
A week only is not much for riding. Advice: take a returnflight to Goa. At Dabolim airport take a taxi to Agonda Beach Go there to Dersy Beach Resort check in and relax. When you do that please say hello to Inacino and Maria, the owners. For riding a bit you can easily rent a scooter or even a royal enfield to ride there. Do not go to northern Goa. This is completely Spoiled. Take care Metita, Menno now home in holland |
Pieterjan:
I spent all of last winter working in Mumbai. I don't recommend that you rent a moto and do any riding at all in the Mumbai area - the traffic is horrendous, and the driving culture (norms and practices) is totally different from Europe / North America. I agree with Metito's suggestion above - take a flight out of Mumbai somewhere, do most of your exploration on foot, if you want to rent a scooter for some local riding in a less populous area, do that. Personally, I think that once you see what Mumbai traffic (and roads!) are like on the trip from the airport to your hotel, you will quickly decide that you don't want to go riding in that environment. Another vote for flying to Goa and renting there, as has been said Agonda beach is one of the nicer places especially if you don't want to party all night.
