new rules in vietnam ????
Hi are things starting to change in vietnam ? The other day I was in hue I seen 2 bmw gs 1200 and a gs 800 all with foreign number plates. I never met the owners of the bikes but the parking lot security guy told me they had just crossed through from Loas. So is this the start of foreigners being able to bring bikes in ?
I read something recently that from the 1st january that international licenses will be recognised. I am riding a Vietnamese registerd bike. Does anyone know if this will have any effect on me crossing the border into Cambodia with my bike? |

Another question is how official it is... I was able to do that some time ago :scooter: |
Info required!
Hi Kito howsitgoing?
Caf and I have been out of the loop for 18 months or so now but it's planning time again :scooter: Rather than ship our bikes we're going to purchase on arrival as it's a short (10 weeks) trip this time. Hoping to included Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma and Laos (maybe getting down to Malaysia). Do you have any info on buying something small/local 150cc and which country would be the best of fly into to facilitate that? Having only traveled on my own UK reg'd bike this is all new to us and lots to find out! Cheers Pete & Caf |
I got a honda win from a backpacker that was about to fly out. It cost me $170. I think its best to start in vietnam as you can take bikes out but not into vietnam

Any latest info on entering Vietnam with a foreign vehicle?

Nice site and lovely bike :) I saw that you crossed from Laos into Vietnam. Any hints and tips on the best border to cross and the paperwork required? I'm heading that way in my Land Rover in March and could do with some tips! Many thanks Ben |
