North East India
Many people ask us do you need permits for that part of India.
We came in from Myanmar and nobody ask for special permits, the only thing to do is to register yourself within 24 hours in the capital of the province you visit. To find the register officer is a hell of a job, because there are no signs on the buildings and there are so few travellers in this region that taxi drivers don't now either. The region is full of heavy armed soldiers and police, with lots of checkpoints. But it is worth to visit this region, no tourism, very authentic, bustling traffic, beautiful nature and the roads are not to bad, except from Imphal to Kohima here you find a very bad road. Ditto that, ridetheworld, wonderful place. Registration not required anymore and the only state you need to get a permit for is Arunachal Pradesh.
