Pakistan to Dubai by ferry
I’m trying to find information on a ferry service from Gwadar in Pakistan to Dubai. Everything I find on the web suggests that since the new port at Gwadar was completed in December 2004 a ferry service will begin soon to Dubai. Unfortunately there isn’t any info, which I can find, stating whether it’s up n running yet.
Basically what I am trying to achieve is to return from India without the need to travel through Iran because of the difficulty another Iranian Visa once out of the UK. Any help would be really appreciated. James |
People have used Dhows from Dubai to Karachi, so I would think the opposite direction should be possible, too. Not a regular service, so to speak, just find a boat in the port and bargain.

Hi there!!
There is a service from Iran to UAE Departure: After UAE (ferry Bandar Abbas - Sharjah) tickets are available with the Valfajre-8-Shipping company government inspection department N 27 09,940 E 056 13,780 on the way toward port. The ferry drives at least once per week. Approach places and persons up to the Oasis Freight Agency government inspection department N 25 19,028 E 055 22,952 in Sharjah are identical. The lengthy procedure is it unfortunately also. From United Arab Emirates (Sharjah - Bandar Abbas): One gets tickets for the ferry of the Valfajre Shipping Agency in Sharjah with the helpful Mr. Abdul Naser of the Oasis Freight Agency government inspection department N 25 19,028 E 055 22.952. Although it concerns a ferry, all vehicles on the ship are regarded as freight. Unfortunately increases the paper stuff (freight paper: Bill OF Lading) and the costs. Costs of two motorcycles, two persons 1300 Dirham (ca.175. -). departures at least once per week. On the ship no cab or a bed is present despite the 10-hour overnight accomodation travel. All Passager sleeps in the seats or on the soil. There is warm dinner and a small breakfast. ------------------ Best wishes :-) RalEva http://www.Motorradnomaden.de around the world on 2 motorcycles The homepage has a translation service!! Hi there,
if you can not go to Iran, I am sure you can take a dhow (woodboat) from Pakistan to Dubai. They transport everything around the gulf area and more!! ------------------ Best wishes :-) RalEva http://www.Motorradnomaden.de around the world on 2 motorcycles The homepage has a translation service!! |
It´s told here and there around the net, that you can find dhow from Dubai or Muscat to Gwadar (or Karachi) in Pakistan, but has anyone really made this journey?
And if, how was it? What did it cost? How did you manage customs and immigration??? |

Such service is available but isnt managed very formally. Locals in Gwadar might be the most well informed people and can be helpful. We have a few members based there and I can refer you to them.

Thanks guys!
I decided to ride through Balochistan, but if somebody has first hand information I´m still curious. |
How you considered shipping from Mumbai to Dubai>?

Option across Persian gulf
Hi...
Next spring/summer I'm planning trip to India. But i will like to visit UAE from Iran, than go to Oman Is there any option to cross Gulf to Gwadar or Karachi? Even better Gwadar, than i will ride famous coastal road to Karachi... Than I'm planning to go all the way to KKH and after that to India. On my way back probably I will go through Quetta because I don't have mone for China to Kirgystan.. Whant with NOC and immigration in case i enter Pakistan over sea? There was some talks about ferry service between Muscant and Karachi, but as i know that was not realized... |
