Renting a Bike in Delhi?
What is the standard for payment? Cash? Or will a credit card work?
Seems I'll have to drop about 1K USD to rent the bike (after the security deposit) and not sure I wanted to carry that much cash with me.. anyone have any advice? also.. am planning on renting from bullet wallas.. any thoughts there? dave |
I had no problem with credit card a few years ago.
As to who to rent from, one name keeps coming up, year after year. Lalli Singh. lalli singh.com I rented from him and he went above and beyond for me and many others. He is not the cheapest, but he was well worth every rupee. Regards Nigel in NZ |
1K USD! For that you will be able to buy a second hand bullet!

Lalli is the most known but the most expensive too!
Last month i rented a bullet 350 from Bullet Wallas. The bike run well and cost me 16.000 rps a month with 300 euros of deposit. And you can still find cheaper bikes ... |
How long are you planning on renting the bike for? I looked around in Delhi thinking about buying an Enfield since it's taking a while for my Ducati to show. It's basically assumed you'll crash (traffic takes some getting used to) and/or ride an Enfield like it's a new bike (butcher the engine) so dealers don't like renting for short periods. You can buy a good used one for a thousand US.
I brought in US$1,000 with no problems. All of this has been actively discussed on ADV Rider with recommended shops. Like Nigel said, there's lots of great recommendations about Lalli Sing. It's a great country! --Dave |
