Extra Lights in India

From: Deiter Kruezeon on the HU FB Page:

Just a word of caution regarding ' extra lights ".
Most states deem any modifications to a bike illegal especially spotlight / fog lights.
If stopped by the police you can be fined ( challan ).
I accidentally installed some pretty big spotlights on my bike in India for mountain riding and my safety but the trick ( loophole )is to keep them covered.
I has some small fabric bags made that slip over the lights. While its obvious that there are spotlights underneath the bags prevent the light shining through.
If you are considering riding to Manali in the future be very careful when riding through Chandigarh and Mandi as the police there are pretty ferocious.
After Manali if you are heading up to Leh for example you can take the covers off as extra lighting is considered a necessity for your safety as long as you are not using them against on coming traffic.

Delhi, Trains

From Cory Chartier on HU FB Group

"So do know who all this pertains to but there is a new rule in Delhi for trains. You can no longer ship the bike as a parcel it must be luggage requiring you to buy a passenger ticket and pick up the bike within 6hrs of arrival or pay 10rs per hour storage fee. The rest of india I believe is still normal."
and:
"Update just because you by the ticket doesn't mean bike will ship just informed they have no idea when they will ship my bike glad I didn't ride the train just to get to hyderbad and discover my bike isn't there."

Getting a local SIM card is much, much harder than it needs to be until you find a local to lie for you.
