Shipping Iran/Emirates to SE Asia (BKK, Singapur)
Has somebody heard about sending the bike from Iran to Thailand or Singapur?
What similar routes are there? Maybe cross from Iran to the Emirates and send the bike from there? (I'm looking for options if the situation in Pakistan keeps deteriorating, so India is not an option unless it is possible to ship from Iran to India). Do you know if there's a website where to look for direct airplane connections in the world, a place to investigate cheaper and easier connections and the companies involved? Where is the air-fright hubb in the Emirates? Is it possible to cross from Iran to the Emirates with ferry and your bike or customs in the Emirates are too complicated/expensive? Wow! Too many questions for a single post!:Beach: |

Dubai customs are not overly complicated but they can be a little expensive in my experience. Sharjah might be cheaper. Dubai is the usual hub for air freight shipments. I have friends who've freighted to both Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur without any major difficulties at either end. It's usually fairly easy to get a bike crate for free in Dubai and there are friendly people around to help you with directions etc. Stephan |
Thank you Stephano.
How much expensive do you mean Dubai customs are (10$, 100$, 1000$...?). And the shipment to Kuala Lumpur/Bangkok? I just want to have an idea of the costs of this route. |
hi there,
if you choose to ship bike to india as an option, it could be useful to you to know it is possible from tehran airport; i did it two years ago. go to the cargo area in mehrabad airport, wich is located in front of terminal 2 (int. fly). look for SAMA RAH AIR CARGO SERVICE & mr. Jafarinead (he spokes english). they managed the whole process for me (crating, custom clearance, etc.) for 600$ all inclusive, and put the bike on my same fly (iran air) from tehran to mumbay. hope this will aid you, to have anice trip www.lungastrada.it |

Recent Kuala Lumpur cost breakdown (£906) is here: Prep for Malaysia As mentioned on the same page, Mike Narozny shipped to Bangkok but I can't remember what he paid. Stephan |
Dnicoleti, I don't know where, but I saw a picture of you and your bike at the top of one of that great himalayan passes. I wanted to know more of the story. I will carefully read your website.
Thank you for the contact in Theran!! :thumbup1: I will check if there are connection Tehran-SE Asia. Stephano, thanks again for your help. The costs to go from UAE to Kuala are OK. It will still be an option, allthough I see it quite complicated (+customs, + transports, etc). In fact my first idea was to go to Iran and back to Spain crossing Saudi Arabia and Egypt, until I knew about Saudi policy with tourism. Would have been a nice roundtrip too. Sometime or never say never. :scooter: |

but why should it be a problem to ship your bike to india? the only thing I heard is that the customs take a "little" bit more time... so I think that I try to ship my bike form dubai or maybe from oman to kathmandu nepal by airfright... |
Karter, I enjoyed your website :thumbup1:
Bunda, I meant that if the situation in Pakistan gets worse I would subject the cross to India to having the option (economicaly viable) of shipping the bike. Now I know it is possible and I can presumably afford it, so... :mchappy: |
