Spare parts in Pakistan
Hey guys. Well I have made it to the Iran/Pakistan border without too much trouble. The Transalp has been a dream and with a little bit of knowledge from Graham and Tino I have been keeping it well maintained.
Small problem on the consumables front though. The front break disks have warped and the rear is burning (to thin I think). I was hoping to get ahold of some in Pakistan so if anyone knows anywhere where i might have a chance to get them that would be really helpful. Also I might need some new tires. Its the standard 2005 XL650 with the 21 front and 17 rear. Thanks guys and good riding. Ollie |

Company Name : AGA AUTOS Postal Address : Qasim auto market m.a jinnah road Phone(s) : 92-021-2725353 This contact was given to me by a brit who said he was most helpfull (like all pakistani) ... But i couldnt get in touch with him, since i forgot to take it with me .... :( Cheers, |
Great stuff, USL! Small detail missing: which city?
Ollie, unless this contact yields results I think you should have sent to you by courier whatever you need. There are almost no big bikes in Pakistan, except a few cop bikes, so finding spares will be an uphill battle. Good luck, Peter. |
Thanks,
ice Cheers USL and Pete, I will give the contact a try. It looks like I will be able to skim the discs to the right shape and the tyres can wait if they have to. I will just ride slower (honest guv) Had the police on our backs all through Pakistan. Constant escorts but we havebeen running and hiding. You should read about it. The spare parts myth
Ok well after travelling through Pakistan and being told by 101 people that I wont get tyres and I wont get parts I can honestly say it is all a myth. Tyres are everywhere. Just ask around and keep on asking, you will get them. As for parts, what you cant buy can be made easily. The axle bracket on my transalp snapped and I had one made up from a conrod in Gilget for next to nothing. Getting the disks skimmed was also a walk in the park. Bearings are literally everywhere. Internal engine parts may be a problem but I am pretty sure if you have the old part available someone will make a copy of it no problem.
I suspect you could probably get sprockets made too if yuo really had to but chains are a whole nother ball game. Thanks for all the advice guys. The bike and me are both very happy at the moment. |
