storing a bike in thailand or se asia?
 

hello,

I'm currently in eastern Russia, trying to figure out where I can store my bike for roughly 6months. bike is Canadian plated (if it matters)

if not Thailand, and othrr se Asian countries?

Malaysia is one option (I was able to fly out from there without bike) and Cambodia another one.

You could be time-restricted (30 days) in Thailand. There are ways around this, under certain circumstances. I suggest you refer to this RideAsia.net thread for more info regarding Thai storage.

Note that I temporarily stored by NZ-registered bike, for 6-month periods, on three separate occasions in/around SE Asia:

1. Bali, Indonesia – (Oct 2011 - May 2012)
2. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – (July 2012- Feb 2013)
3. Phnom Penh, Cambodia – (April - Oct 2013)

You need to give it a little thought, especially if you’re travelling under cover of a carnet, but it can be done.

im currently in yakutsk, trying to figure out where to store the bike, ship it back to europe, send it home to canada, or park it in se asia (non carnet)

I was able to get a six month temp import for Thailand. I am currently back in Canada visiting. While my bike is still sitting in Thailand....

How did you get a 6 month temporary import to Thailand? Any special provedure?

I would like to know as I might do the same myself....
