Temp import to Thailand on Tourist visa?
I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for Thailand. My plan is to ship RoRo in a few days from Japan. I contacted Fair & Easy co., LTD about help with customs. They were recommended on the GT riders forum.
I was planning to fly into BKK and get a visa at the air port. I have been told that I can not temp import my motorcycle on a 1 month visa from the airport. Instead they said I will need to have a 3 month tourist visa prior to getting to the country. Can anyone shed some light on this? I also have a carnet. Can't I just get my carnet stamped? My worry is I won't be able to get a visa in Japan before I leave. (i've heard horror stories.) I will be flying into Seoul before BKK so I extended my stay there, I could get the 3 month visa... I hope. :helpsmilie: |
Noah, Thailand is not a CPD country... so there's no use for one there.
Can't say anything useful about the visa though... |
hi,
i came into thailand from laos with my german registered car. i have a double entry tourist visa, good for 2 times 60 days, but annoyingly i got only 30 days on the temporary import for my car. they said i can extend this. in a few days i will try, then i know more. cheers |
There is no such thing as a 30 day visa to Thailand. Most People on short time stay to Thailand get a 30 day visa excemption.
And a tourist visa to Thailand is 60 days. Not 30 or 90 days. However a 60 day tourist visa can be extended another 30 days on a immigration Office (without leaving the country) if all pro forma and paperwork is ok. If you can get a temp import on this I dont know.... |
you can most definitely get a temp import for a bike on the 60 day tourist visa. we'd organsied ours in georgetown, malaysia
