THAILAND: Asian Motorcycle Adventures--thoughts?
A friend of mine who may meet up with me on my Thailand trip is considering doing an 11-day motorcycle tour of the Golden Triangle with the company "Asian Motorcycle Adventures". This it the website: http://www.asianbiketour.com/. Any experience with this or thoughts about it? She loves to motorcycle and likes the idea of being with a group, but it is REALLY expensive, $3000 US. Any feedback (positive or negative) or alternatives would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure of pricing but the guy who posts on here under the Davidfl name runs a tour out of Chaing mai, and I think it's cheaper than what you posted. Also he's been doing it for a long time. Try www.gt-rider.com

Yes pretty damn expensive, but excellent fun if you can forget how much it cost. Had a great trip with Reed last december. Stayed in some great places, ate fantastically, and rode some outrageous roads. Ofcourse the main factor will always be the company, and that's a gamble. He uses aprilias, but I had a 250 and think I had more fun ( especially on the tracks ). Need any more info? Please email. JT

You know for this money you can buy a bike in Thailand, stay in good hotels and do the ride in your own way.
Possible buying options are Joe's bikeshop in Chaing Mai (run by a German guy) and Siam Superbike in Bangkok (run by a Kiwi, Peter) http://www.siamsuperbike.com/contact.html. Buy him and his wife a meal and David Unkovich (of GT rider) will share the benefit of his experience with you. His site (see link in previous message) is useful for conditions and ideas. |
