Thailand Visas

Can anyone please confirm if a visa is required or not to enter Thailand for a period of less than 30 days.We will be entering from Malaysia and I have so far drawn a blank in seeking this info.

Hi Graeme,

For a Dutch person, and I would think also for a britisch since it's all "schengen" out here, you need a visum, but you can get it at the border. (Max. 30 day !!!)

Just returned from our overland trip which involved entering Thailand twice. You can get a Visa at the border or airport for 30 days [free] or apply in advance to London or Liverpool for a 60 day visa [fee payable]
The 30 day visa can be extended by either crossing into Burma/Laos/Cambodia for a few minutes, or by applying to the authorities in Bangkok. You may have a problem extending the time you are allowed to keep the bike in the country unless you exit and re-enter. If you have any other questions e mail us at link above

I've ridden my bike from singapore to thailand a couple times - most nationalities do not need a visa to get into to thailand for less than 30 days (I'm american, but its the same for most europeans as well). They will issue visa at the border - no cost. Let me know if you need any other info.

Cheers,

Matt

Touche all the above. Therer are heaps of officially recognised border crossings into Thailand from all her neighbouring countries. Be they land, sea or air ports. From Malaysia you have Penang, Port Klang, Melaka by sea. Probably more also. The guide books should advise. Or look into Lonely planets website.

6 years later: is it still the case?

Hi

Aiming to ride in and out of Thailand from Malaysia (on a UK carnet'ed bike). Is it still the case a 15 day visa can be obtained at the land borders?

Note I will NOT have a confirmed return air ticket. As I will be landing from Dubai into Malaysia, exploring Malaysia, entering Thailand for couple of weeks, then exiting Thailand back to continuing to explore Malaysia a while. most of the online info says a confirmed return ticket is needed though to get a 15 day visa. Is that case?
