The Karakoram Highway
I am planning a trip on an XT600E London to India but was hoping to include an excursion over the KKH from Pakistan into China and then back down to India via Ley. Having spoken to several people it appears that I may not be able to take the bike into China. Does anyone out there have any more information about this?
Alternatively how about going from India to Nepal then on to Tibet? Any replies would be very much appreciated. Thanks loads, Giles |
here is a web site that may help you in finding info on biking in china. would like to hear about nepal / tibet if you do find anything out

Hi there,
Its not a waste of time to drive the Karakorum up and down. A very spectacular drive. Shure it is possible to enter China but it takes a lot of time and lots and lots of money to arrange a permit. The same for Tibet. Best to arrange from your homecountry and at least a year before going... We all hope China will open up soon! Peter |
