Considering going from Yamaha WR250R to Suzuki DRZ400. Anyone Ridden Both?
Hi All!
Currently i am the proud owner of a Yamaha WR250R but i will have to sell it before returning home from my trip. I love the fuel injection, its reliability, its long service intervals, Its 6 speeds, and its world-class suspension. I am looking to buy a new (used) motorcycle when i return. I am not the first to complain about the lack of a real 400+cc dual-sport in the market that can be adventurized. Many have said that if Yamaha made a WR450R they would buy in in a heartbeat, myself included. Would love to get just a little bit more power than 250cc while keeping the weight and the overall design the same. The DRZ400 seems like a good compromise. It's reliable, has an abundance of aftermarket parts available, and doesn't need to be serviced often. However, i was disappointed to discover that it only has 5 gears. The vast majority of the riding i do when i tour is asphalt, so a 6th gear would really be nice. Anyway, i was wondering if anyone who has ridden both would like to offer their two cents on what i might expect going from one to another. Thanks! Would also love to hear suggestions about other bikes if you have any. |
Hi
I thought the DRZ would be the perfect bike for me for green laning. However even though it is tall I found the distance between the seat and the Pegs to be too short for me with a 34/35” inseem. I went with the WR250R instead. The fuel consumption will, I think, not be as good. If you’re doing mostly road miles how about a Versey 300X. |
