Have been following a few of the trips they have been on recently, another drawback is the amount of weight it can carry,...Mine,not luggage!:oops2: |
How far
I grew up in france and we had some 49CC modep ( 103 peugeot or motobecane also called une bleu ) and many time we did ride of 400KM per day, as long as you know how to fix it ( spark plug mostly) many of these are very strong, the only problem is that they are weak when riding hills and in mountain the speed drop drastically.

Ahh, the venerable postie bike. :thumbup1: I've had a Ferrari red 110cc single ratio version parked in my garage for the last 5 years. It doesn't get used much but I am planning on taking it North later this year to either Birdsville or Cape York.
As to how far I'd ride it? Well there is an Aussie couple (Nat and ?) on this board who are currently riding one two up from Australia to Europe. There were also the 3 intrepid Aussie posties who took theirs from Cairns to Cape York and back last year. As to daily distances - judging by what I was able to cover in China on my 125, I'd say 500km a day is quite achievable. Garry from Oz. |
On my recent C90 trip, I found 300 miles to be about the acheivable limit in a full day of riding. With a realistic laden speed of 40mph or less, by the time you take out stopping for food/checkpoints/bladder relief/smoking/getting lost, the average speed goes down well below 30 - so ten hours in the saddle gets you 300 miles (an sha allah).

Gearbox
Ok, I've decided I want one! Well, I'll build a replica. Is that a 'big' 90 engine? Does the transfer box just bolt on to the side, or is it internal too?

C90s cost more than you'd think in the UK :( Me and my mate were up for buying a couple and giving them the purple helmets treatment, then riding around making fools out of ourselves falling off a lot, but in the end it seemed it'd work out a bit expensive especially when 70s and 80s jap bikes in general are worth bugger all.

My personal record is 200 miles in 1 day ( 320 ish KM ), but thats just around Scotland.... I'll be heading round France in August this year, and i am aiming for between 150 - 200 miles a day HTH M |
We have been on the road for a year now.
2-up on a CT110 Postie with metal (homemade) panniers. Average distances have worked out to be 200kms. It depends on the roads and traffic really. We can cruise at 70km/h if given the chance. In Indonesia the roads we so bad 30km/h average was tops= 200km days were tough. In Bangladesh we usually slept in and started riding after a big lunch. Good roads and no traffic in the rural areas. 50km/h average. = 200km half days. Here in India the traffic is terrible and the heat intense. We still sleep in though. 30km/h average. 150km days cos there is somuch wierd stuff to stop and gawk at. You can see the Bike prep and road reports of all the countries so far on our touring blog. A fantastic bike. After this trip Im gonna convert one to run on methane. Get some goats, chickens and cows together, collect all thier waste and scive the gas to run an ecofriendly postie.
