How much adventure do I need

I currently ride a Honda cb500s. I have had xt660s and and xt125 in the past. I have a young family and buying a business from my boss so my "big trip" is 10 years away. In the mean time I plan lots of Moto camping travellling far as I can get in 2 or so weeks away. So my question is do I need any off road capability? And was the dl650 v storm and other off road "style bikes" all I will need until the day comes. By which time I am hoping new Africa twins will be resonable to buy second hand. Because man that bike looks good. I love my current bike I just find her a bit small and cramped on longer rides. I am not that tall but long legged. I also have very little off road riding. Please also or me know of any adventure riding off road touring available near me just outside of London.

Regards John

I think the question you should be asking is "Do I WANT any offroad capability?"

I have both an Enfield and a Triumph. I cannot say one is better than the other because they are different. I would choose which bike to take depending on the journey. It is the journey (route) over which you have control. Once you decide that, you can then decide what you need, and what you want. They could well be different.

Off road

Maybe I should have asked is there any good off road adventure riding in Western Europe. Then it may be worth looking at klr or xt660z. I want to ride off road I just feel in 2 weeks I will need to do a lot of motorway riding to get to good places. Bty the cb500 is awesome off road. She has forded rivers driven on ice and snow gravel grass mud.

Wow

If I could make decisions ten years in advance it buy property not motorbikes. Buy what you want for now. Everything changes from one year to the next. You may well be considering a carbon fibre solar powered bike in 2025 and it will cost more than your first house

I've already bought a number of cars that cost more than my first house and the first bike to do so will be this year.

I've also bought bike jackets that cost more than my parents first house. If only they'd kept it - the jacket's now landfill but the house is over £500k.
