Meet the Royal Enfield Bear

Royal Enfield presents a new scrambler based on the now well known 650 twin 270 degrees engine platform. The Bear has much in common with 650 Interceptor, engine, frame and petroltank but engine is tuned a bit differently and wheel size is 19/17 and it has longer suspension travel.

With a weight of 216 kilos wet weight and only a 13,6 liter petrol tank it might not be the most obvious travel bike - but maybe some will consider it still???

Given the number of Interceptor owners who gush over the engine, I recon this might be a great travel bike if your focus is enjoying the riding experience rather than where you're going

Looks lovely :thumbup1:

That looks interesting - I went out for a test ride on the Interceptor a few years ago and was impressed by the engine and chassis package. Having something that is more off road orientated but short of a competitor to the Himalayan 450 makes sense - I will have a look at the bike at Motorcycle Live in Birmingham NEC (16-24 November).

I saw the Bear in the flesh today at Motorcycle Live in Birmingham, UK. It looks pretty good and could make a nice compromise for travelling. Yes, there could be more ground clearance, it doesn’t come with tubeless tyres as far as I can tell, and there is no rack from the get go but none of these are showstoppers.

Another bike to take out for a test ride in the spring …
