Mini Tenere ?
Has anyone seen one of these before?
http://www.yamaha-motor.com.mx/image..._gris_2015.jpg F/I, 16lt tank, disc brakes, comfy looking seat and a reliable engine but heavy at 151kg (twentyish more than my XR250!). Looks like a solid tourer though. I could only find it in Mexico and Brazil. |

A lot of interesting Jap 250/300s don't get sold out of Latin America - or at least not into emissions-conscious western markets. |
Its an old thread somewhere here about that bike, if someone could cough it up.... :D
Its a pity for sure that this bike isnt availabale somewhere else than middle and south America. Its maybe a little heavy with its 151 kilos but I reckon that is wet weight, and if so it isnt that bad... |
?c?
Heavy for a 250 perhaps, but by the time you removed the CAT, it will have lost a third of its weight :) |
151kg...... For a 250.
That's why you don't see it. That's more than my 650. |
Make it EU/US norms compliant (= switch to FI, unless it already is)... oh, and also DO take off those lead bricks, that it must be carrying underneath the plastics, and then, yeah, surely these could sell well.........
|
I wish we had such model in Europe, I don't understand motorcycle makers logic.
|
That's wet weight - so knock off 20k?

Hello everyone...
Here in Brazil we also have the Honda XRe 300.. http://www.honda.com.br/motos/Paginas/nova-xre-300.aspx Many friends that have bigger bikes, like BMW GS or Tiger 800s, do use both the Yamaha and Honda small ones when travelling to the Amazon region.. The fuel consumption is critical on these trips once there is no gas stations very often... That's why those two are the best option. Cheers Enviado de meu LG-D855 usando Tapatalk |

But it would of course have been better if it were lighter, no doubt about that. |

This bike is awesome and really a success in Brazil.
I'm in my second, the 151kg is wet weight, it is just 4kg heavier than the xtz250 lander (american serrow). F.I., it makes about 28km/l. Mine is the orange one. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EaKmHtuox9...0/DSC09875.JPG http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L5kg97T0KK...0/DSC09649.JPG It's unbreakable, never heard of any having major issues before 120.000km. Parts are cheap. Brakes are shitty but easy to improve, rear suspension is shitty also. Maybe next year i'm coming for a improved rear shock. Eletrics are good, very strong headlight, and it supports nicely auxiliary lights and chargers for gps and mobiles. Stock seat is hard as rock, so we usually put an aftermarket. With it its easy to make 1000km/day on road. |
Looks like a cool bike indeed.
But I am not impressed with that fuel consumption. My Tenere 660 makes 24-25 km on a litre. And a Honda Crf 250L which I have rented several times makes around 35 kms pr litre. Still an interesting bike though... |
Looks like good value, but a WR250R with a 17 litre IMS tank and small screen would be a better -(though much more expensive) bike.
|
The problem here in brazil is that a 660z costs as much as 3 times the 250.
So not everyone can have it. and the maintenance costs are much higher. We do not have the wr250r, if we had i probebly woud be with one of it. I prefer small light bikes over big bikes like the 660. In brazil, our sources forum • Índice , i can say that here the 660 do not make more than 20km/l. the only option here if i were to make an upgrade would be the crf250l, but as i ride 2 up a lot, it wouldn't make it. |
