Off brand South American Bikes reviews? AKT? Qingqi? Keeway?
 

I will be riding though South America starting in Colombia in January. Because I will be buying and selling the bike during the trip I am looking for the cheapest bikes possible.

There are three that I am potentially interested in:

Keeway TX200: Keeway Colombia - TX 200 ENDURO

AKT 250 Adventure: TT 250 | Adventour | AKT Motos

Qinqi qmr200 or qmr 250 : (Can't find a good link which makes me nervous)


Because the maximum length of my trip is something like 7000 miles, I'm less concerned with build quality than I am with parts availability. I would assume most bikes are capable of putting out 7000 miles but I would expect some things to break on a cheaper bike so if I can't get parts for this bike in peru, bolivia or argentina, then I am screwed.

For that reason, I am really interested if anyone has information regarding how these bikes are analagous to more popular bikes, especially in terms of parts being interchangeable. My friend mentioned that he thinks the qinqi qm series use an engine which is an exact clone of a suzuki dr200, and if that was the case, I know parts would be available anywhere.

The AKT is the same bike sold as the CCM 250 in the USA, Its the best of the three. It's not a Japanese bike, but youcan get it repaired everywhere. The Couple from Wisconsin who present at HU meetings about packing light, have a pair of them, maybe they will chime in.

Bajaj also just came out with an adventury version of the Pulsar which might be worth considering.

The AKTs look really nice but I am really concerned that I will not be able to get parts outside of Colombia where there are AKT vendors. Unless I hear of some proof that I am going to be able to get parts from Colombia to Bolivia I am going to go with another brand.

These are Zhonchen RX-3 motorcycles in other parts of the world and CSC 250 Adventure and Minsk 250 ADVenture. They are sold in Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. So they are not sold in Guyana and maybe Venezuela. I met a Colombian couple 2 up in Tierra Del Fueago on one. I'm telling you which is the best bike to do it on. I know what I'm talking about.

Also sold as the Honley RX3 in the Uk, it actually gets decent reviews. I'd like to try one myself.
