Some alternative bikes to consider...

Someone posted this link which I copied and thought would be of interest to this lot. Some of you might have seen them already...

Silly Harley

Silly Harley - tricks are for Xr's KLR's BMW's etc.

You sure wouldn't find guys with there pretty new Harleys doing that today. And yes I'm one of them.

This is a great thread. I read it back in '03 when Wayne first posted it.
Thanks for posting the link Simon!

Wayne Weber's dad and his buddies really were the first dual sport/adventure riders. :thumbup1:

I reccommend anyone thinking of going RTW to read this. Get some perspective....and show some respect to the real pioneers that came before
you. These guys didn't go RTW but rather explored the Colorado mountains.
Most were WW2 vets who got the bike bug over in the UK or Europe during the war.

It also shows that nearly any bike can do RTW if set up right provided you know you're way round it mechanically.

Well, I guess after going through a war, what's riding Harleys through terrain that they weren't meant for?lol Plus, there was one or two photos of some British bikes doing the same thing in there. I wonder if they were brought back after WWII by soldiers?
