Hi Pete
I've just bought a GS500 E year 1998 and am finding the riding position with the clip on style bars to be pretty uncomfortable. I also did not like the bike at first due to having to rev it but am getting a bit more used to it now. I'm interested in the kit that you posted from Ebay above for the bar conversion. Could you tell me what the kit contains please? I can't read the German. From the photo it looks like the top yoke isn't include. Many thanks, Andy |
Andy,
the set comes with bar risers, superbike bars, braided brake line and screws. You might need to cut the left rubber grip from the old bars, in that case you need a new grip as well (plus really strong glue, which I am searching as still). For another twelve Euros you get two anchor pins to attach the bar weights. As far as the seating position is concerned, I find that seating really close to the tank makes a huge difference. Wide bars are also extremely useful. Make sure to soak any nut or bolt with WD40 prior to removing them. Enjoy your Suzuki, she will feel better once you got to know her. |
GS 500 Numb throttle hand
Thanks Pete
Do you have any problems with a numb throttle hand? I find that I have to vary my grip continually to try to relieve this. I'm thinking this is maybe a combination of the clip on bars and the parallel twin vibes. A Google search shows this to be a common enough complaint with this bike. Just wondering if the new bars helped with this? I've ordered up a throttle rest to see if that helps. Cheers, Andy |
Hi Andy,
I canĀ“t say I had a numb throttle hand, maybe because of the anti-vibration weights in the bars? But then the clip-on bars made riding the GS500 so much more akward for me and I probably did not notice. |
