V strom 650 in africa
 

Hi All

Just wanted to hear if anyone have any experience with ridning a dl 650 v strom in africa? I'm hoping on going on a 1 up trip from Denmark to Cape town and I own a dl 650 at the moment and was wandering if it was an OK bike for the trip? I'm 5,6" (169 cm)and the bike fits me OK but Is there a better bike for the job takning my height in account? Thanks.

If you know this bike and can ride it where you want to go I can think of none better. You can trade range for lightness or seat height for weight, but everytime you switch you simply throw away the knowledge you've built up about your current machine.

I have only used a Vstrom in my travels and although some bits are quite challenging, it can go anywhere pretty much, but I won't do single track stuff.

It is a pig in deep sand and mud, but with a good set of knobbies you should be right

As said above, it is hard to change to a new bie in a strange place, take what you know
