Yerpal,Where are you starting from on your trip? If you start in the USA its fairly easy to find low milage [under 10,000] gently used bikes .It takes some time and you won't be able to line your ducks up at home witch is a drawback but is cheaper than shipping a bike here.
KLRs are avalable, have big range and carring capacity.Beef up the subframe mounting bolts, add abraided F. brake hose,do the doohickey mod for peace of mind and play. Theres lots of aftermarket support for them.I'll have a '92 15,000 mile unit to selllater this year with these mods done as per my own travel bike.Cheers ------------------ ride, smile, repeat as nessasary |
shoot, for less than $5000US you can get a brand new KLR just about where ever you look.
Good idea to buy in the US. Fly into Texas, pick one up and head South. http://www.cycletrader.com/ Yankee Dog |
it will be from home here in the UK first and into africa then after that south america and will ship the bike there I guess as it is cheaper to sort one (line up my ducks???) here than sort a travel bike in another country while staying in a hotel
