Yamaha XT350
Anyone that has experience of this bike ?
(Please keep to the subject, and do not describe all other bikes and why those are better) Thanks |
Other than knowing that the twin carbs can be a pain to set up, and bikes this old will definitely need a carb overhaul unless they've been well cared for, I don't have much to add. According to some Aussie bike magazine reviews of the time that I've seen, the 350 was a big improvement over the 250, and owners tell of an excellent (for the time) torquey motor, like the DR350.

I know that after replacing a stolen Tenere with one when they were brand new, I was disappointed by the lack of grunt and soft suspension after doing a trail bike enduro.
I was not broken-hearted when it too was nicked after a few weeks. I must say I never heard of the 'twin carbs' being hard to set up or even ever needing it (unlike, say, a BMW). Was it not more of a 'carb and a half', like the Tenere? A slide and a CV in one body? Very efficient if you rode on the primary carb. But yes, they will need a look at after all these years. As Moss says, it'll be very old by now. |
