Best Way to Get a Bike for Riding WRWR S & SE Africa
 

Hi everyone, I'm a Canadian and want to ride the African legs of the Women Riders World Relay, which starts January 2nd, 2020.

From my research so far, it seems like it would be difficult to buy/register a motorcycle in SA, nevermind ride it through and sell it in Kenya. I am open to renting, but it is a fairly long journey (approx 45 days), so I feel like it would be more cost-effective to buy/sell if possible.

Does anyone have insight in to buy/sell? Or can recommend a rental company that can make this easy at a fair price?

A bit late for you but after riding around Southern Africa last year, it seems it is possible to buy a bike in southe Africa and get it registered, but a little bit of help may be required.

It is a South Africa motorcycle forum. You will find few ride reports of foreigners buying bikes there, and also lot of very useful local info, not only about riding in SA but lots of ride reports cover all Southern Africa countries. Very worth a read.
