cheap, small footwear
Hi there ladies!
As I've shoesize 37 with a normal height (1.75m), I find it difficult to buy boots. I even tried childrens boots as they have the matching size, but then my calf doesn't fit in. Anybody good advice? O yes, boots like daytona are over my budget...... greetzels I'n tending to leave on my hikingboots |
Hi,
I'm not a lady but... I ride wearing British Army boots. They have good support and are pretty tough. With wax they are shower-proof but not completely waterproof in heavy rain, so I use 'Sealskinz' socks (waterproof breathable socks - circa £25). And they are pretty comfy for walking in. You may not be able to get British Army boots in Holland, but I expect any European Army boots will do a similar job. My British ones cost £35 brand new from an Army and Navy store. In todays modern army I would expect you to be able to get army boots in a size 37. :) Matt |
Hi,
There's a type of walking boot that doubles as bike boots (for ladies) I remember Pat and Sheonagh (Ravensdale) raving about them a year or so ago at the UK meet - does anyone remember who they were made by? Might be worth messaging Sheonagh directly - she's on here.. She said that they'd been wearing them for ages and walked and ridden miles in them - she's got dinky feet too... good luck Tori |
Altberg?

Hi well twice a year both lidl & aldi do riding gear including boots not that bad my other half ,(her to be obeyed has a pair from there),
she is a 39? i am only a 41 = 7&1/2 uk she has worm my Army boots have a look at silvermans Military Clothing | Military Kit | Army Surplus | Boots | Military Surplus | Police Kit | Security | Outdoor | Motorcycle Kit > Home might have a .com as well or any army & navy would suggest (Army) combat high, or NI Boots (no longer made) = 10 hole Dm's full leather all the way sewn in toungh. they take a bit of getting used to breaking in as well as very hi grain leather boot. BTW while i served 22 years in Army some of the girls where 5 ft nothing size 5 or 6 uk had no problems getting them combat high on they are of course lace up but you can buy these zip inserts as well. Or look at Magnum boots used by Army, (privately brought) & most other Services plod ambulance crews, different styles full lace up or half & half with textile pannals. If you want something for Just summer, again a particular style of magnums have textile pannls or Army Jungle boots or latest dessert combat high (note the name!) DO NOT ask for dessert boots! completely different all of these are not Bike riding boots but i wore my Danner boots (simpler to Magnums) all the way from UK to Spain |
oothef beat me to it - have a look at Altberg - they will make boots to fit & you can have extra height put in them too.
I have a pair of the Hogg Original as I didn't need waterproof boots (also have Daytona's). They're really comfortable for walking around too. They may not be cheap but Altberg have a great reputation for fixing their old boots and durability. Altberg Bootmakers - Manufacturers of walking, military, police and motorcycle boots. I would love to buy a pair, but can not afford them. |
Money spent on good quality boots, or any gear, is rarely wasted. Provided you can afford it in the first place then look after it.

Thank you for all the good advice, I'm thinking about the Altbergs but I'm wondering what's the surplus over my hikingboots?
As they are waterproof, have ankle protection and are excellent for walking too. ps 2nd hand army boots are also difficult to find in my size (at least in the Netherlands where my size is also small for women :blushing:) |

I paid £80 for the Altberg's. I pay approx £60-80 for walking boots as I don't do any mountainous or winter climbing with them. In comparison, the Altbergs offer far better protection and strength as bike boots. Chica - A few times per year, Lidl (equivalent to Aldi) sell motorcycle gear and people give it positive feedback. Perhaps you may find a bargain in your size when they're next available near you (or perhaps Aldi sell it too?) Pity you're not in the UK - the BMF Motorcycle Show is reknown for bargains. The next one is in Lincoln on 18-19th Sept & the Hull ferry port is not too far away! BMF Events - TAILEND Happy Shopping! :) |
