"A lot of doors are open to women that aren't open to men" thoughts?
I ride solo, and I always read articles from women solo travellers that as women they get unique, positive experiences that men don't while travelling.
However my experience has been that when I compare notes to men who travel the same routes and couples that they're always getting invited into homes and to drink vodka all night, where I find while I have had some fantastic hospitality along the way, that sort of thing rarely happens to me - that 80% of my time is loneliness, 10% is fantastic hospitality, and 10% is what I think at the outset is hospitality but ends up with propositions for sex. I mean it's not surprising - most of the people you encounter out and about are men, and I can see how the good ones might be reluctant to take a strange motorcycle woman home to meet the wife, but it does make me wonder what all these fantastic experiences are that I always read about online. Since I almost never meet women who ride alone I was wondering what you ladies out there have experienced - is it more like me and if not, what am I missing? |
Where do you travel? For me (as a men) experience vastly differed across different countries. Most hospitality i encountered in North Africe, Morocco espeically. Female friends tell me though, they often get proposals for sex instead of genuine hospital. I think this is a general problem which just dont get mentionend much in those travel reports.
Ironically i had some good experience with Tinder after watching some videos about how the software works. . Not for hooking up, but just for meeting with new people. If youre clear from the start about what you want, you wont have much problems with people trying to hook up with you. Well, most of the time at least. But that problem we have in Reallife anyways. |
