Victorian traveller Isabella Bird featured on BBC radio 4's Great Lives
I have just noticed the subject of this week's edition of Great Lives is Victorian traveller Isabella Bird.
I have just listened to the programme and have read her biography, she was a fascinating woman who broke with convention in many ways, she also travelled alone having never married and was the first woman to become a member of the royal Geographic Society. Not sure if it is available outside of the UK but am sure there is a way around if not. BBC Radio 4 - Great Lives, Series 32, Meg Rosoff on Isabella Bird I also noticed that the volume controls on BBC iplayer go to 11, does this make it the loudest iplayer in the world? |
