it's this part

see picture, the small hanging part called fuel valve assembly (maybe i'm wrong with the name)
It's more safe if you remove the carb to replace it. and check carburetor inlet tubes, often when they r old are easily broken, and this is a good time to replace them also (buy from ebay not the originals 35 versus 100 euro) |
1vj carb
thank you i thought it would be something to do with the float/valve but its nice to get another opinion before i dive in. I will strip the carb hopefully this weekend and have a look and i will post a message to share my expierences :thumbup1:

Float Hight
I had a problem similar to this, with petrol dripping from the overflow at he bottom of the carb. It was just the float height was set wrong and the carb was overfilling.
Its not a difficult job either way but as mentioned be very careful with the carb intake rubbers. good luck |
Carb leak
I had a similar thing one day on my XT600 after parking up at my mates house his wife said there was fuel dripping, theres a discharge tube from carb above the float chamber somewhere, if the needle jet gets stuck it
discharges the surplus fuel. On the XT there's also a tube from the bottom of the float chamber where there's a small screw set just above it, the problem in my case was some dirt had fouled the needle jet, luckily giving the float chamber a couple of sharp taps with the plastic end of a screwdriver then unscrewing the small screw flushed the dirt out, remember to catch the fuel in a clean container to see any resultant foreign matter.:taz: |
