1vj fork seals..
hi. changed the fork seals a while ago on my 1vj and they seem to be a bit 'sticky' to start mooving when i try compress the forks. do they need bedding in or have i done a crap job? ta. karl.

replaced the seals, with a touch of oil to fit and all is dandy...

Your symptoms are usually caused by the forks being slightly twisted in the yokes. It is very easy to put it all back together with that slight misalignment - and it can be quite tricky to dial out.
One way to do it is to do the top clamp up but leave the lower clamp unbolted, compress the forks while sitting on the bike and get an assistant to do the bottom clamp up without moving anything. |

no, i got genuine yamaha seals. tightened the fork bolts up as the previous but one post suggested and no change to the original sticky forks. when dissasembling them it was clear that the sliders were sticking in the fork lowers...
