Is there any place I can find a way to identyfi different models of the XT ?
I got 2 white and red 1vj, 86 and 87 mod and they have different colors on the tank grafic, 86 have black and blue text and blue stripe, the 87 have black text and stripe, is that correct for the years ? The 86 have a broken rod bearing so the engine need a full reduild, where is the best place to get parts for that, like bearings , seals and so on ? |

A friend is looking for a speedo/rev counter unit for her 1VJ Tenere, if you got a spare one, she would be interested to buy it of you. saludos :mchappy: |
Thanks for the tip, here was some interesting information.
The plan for the bikes is to fix up both, first the 86 mod with the broken engine. |
I was told by a very knowledgable chap who worked wonders on my red & white 1vj that originally the lettering was in two tone medium and dark blue, separated horizontally. All the aftermarket graphics are (were?) a solid very dark blue. Any Yamaha Dealer will be able to get parts that are still available. Unfortunately things are running out, which is why i stoped using mine regularly...

Both colours are listed as 86/87

Hi !
Now the engine is down to bits and pices and there is a few things I wounder about. First there is a seal (item 26) on the inside of balance axel, when I thy to get a new on CMSNL it shows in picture but in the list of parts it`s not listed, any idea where I can get a new one or the part number ? Second is about a kind of bushing in a gearwheel, see picture. Here I can not find in in the picture or list, not sure where it belong but think it`s in gear system somewhere. |

Hi, oil seal is 93101 25106, fits into LH crank case.
Don't recognize the gear, maybe centre of clutch drum? in which case it may not be available loose. Looks like a non replaceable type bushing. Cheers p |
Thanks for the tips, I found the seal on CMSNL.
When I take a close look at my pictures the gear is on the inside of the clutch but I can not find that in the drawing, the gear is looking good but the busshing have some small sign of wear. I might bring it to the Yamaha dealer and ask if they can get one because it looks like it is splitted and can be taken out. |
Still working on the bike, engine is all apart and now waiting for crank and cylinder getting back from workshop with new bearing and piston.
Next question is about the swing arm, it need new paint but can`t find out what color it is, Anyone that know the color code for this ? |

I also got another problem and that is the bottom needlebearing on the clutch arm.
Any one got a tip to get it out, I have not seen any puller that is long and thin that can get in there. |

If you have easy access use expansion bolt and puller. |
