34L motor issues /ignition

Hey everyone im currently building a custom xt600 running a hyperpak cdi and 34L motor the wiring is extremely basic as in to run only the issue im having is it kicks fires then dies it has constant spark with out the the ht lead on but when i check for spark with lead on it is very intermittent now ive replaced coil and also the lead on the other coil.and same thing intermitte spark out of the plug but strong out the end of the ht lead just wondering whats the possible problem the cdis pumping out heaps of spark but nothing through to the plug its got me stumpped! Is it maybe got something to do with the type of coil im using? (2kf electric start coil) orange wire cdi to large terminal and black wite from cdi to the coil small terminal

Thanks in advanced

Have you tried a new spark plug. You did not mention it if you did.

Also does anyone know wether or not a resistor type plug effects spark etc?

my own little testing along the years always gave better results with resistor type AND resistor cap.
dont know if your model has this feature, but in my 600e had some weird issues with ign untill i grounded for good the sidestand cutoff wire.

BTW hyperpak warn against mixing up CDI type with TCI type boxes, hope it's not your case....check
