3AJ Automatic decompression question...
Okay My 3AJ has electric and Manual starting. The problem is I don't have an automatic decompresson mechanism at the bottom of the engine, So the engine kicks like a mule. There is a space for it but its not there. Will a 83' TT600K decompression mechanism fit into the 88' 3AJ motorcasing?

probably
But to be absolutely sure, you will need to compare part numbers, or just try.
You also have the lever on the cilinder head? Further, do not forget the reinforcing ring around the kickstart shaft 'bearing' in the RH casing. Auke |
Hi,
I cannot answer your exact question, but perhaps my experience will be of help? Some years ago I fitted the kickstart and decompression mechanism to my 3AJ. All the parts came from the previous 1VJ Tenere model. The one part that would not fit was the decompression cable, as the outer cable casing & end was too fat/broad to feed between the bottom engine casings. I found that a late (2000) TT600's cable was much thinner and fitted okay. I am guessing, but I think an early TT600 (e.g. '83) engine casing design would be similar to the 1VJ and have a broader decompression cable casing. While the later TT600 had a 3AJ type of engine design. Ciao, Geoff |
Okay, I checked some OEM parts diagrams and they appear to be the same. I'm going to go ahead and buy this part...with any luck it will work. Thanks for the advise guys. I'll let you know how it turns out...Oh yeah I do have the lever on the cylinder head (A 2KF head...)
