3AJ Cam Question...
 

I seached the forum, but didn't find the answer to a simple question...(to somebody who knows) Does the 595CC 3AJ motor have removable cam bearings? Or does the cam just lay in the head/cover...

Just had a look in the yamaha bible, it appears it just lies in the head (no bearings) hope this has helped.

All 600 cc Yamaha singles have their camshaft run on machined surfaces of the cylinder head. No bearings or replacable journals.

Thanks for the help...The bike is currently undergoing serious repairs at a local Moto repair shanty...the mechanic said they didn't have removable cam bearings, but when I looked at the head, the journals didn't look too healthy. So I was kinda hoping he was wrong...but I guess not. Anyways thanks again...
