Most parts from 1990 and up fit.... However;

The seat, sidecovers, the rear fender, and front brake disc are different. Also luggage rack systems, and even some exhausts (mostly the mounts for the exhaust) are different, because the rear frame is slightly different (made stronger in 1996)

Genuine stuff like brakepads and such is bolt on.

Ask inhere when in doubt with specefic items. :)

Thanks for that, I find this forum very informative.

I've just ordered a centre stand for my bike and will take it from there.

My other bike is a BMW F650 GS 2007 model

Mine is a 3TB (1994) and I bought a genuine Yamaha rear rack, advertised as for all XT600e models. I didn't fit, and I had to cut some of the rear fender and pack it with washers to get it to fit.

Now I know why. Thanks :)

Mostly, if you use sites like kedo.de in germany you will see they list the year model the part is fitted for. Even thoug I myself think thats it confusing, its there...they have a "year description text" somewhere that tells you what the different models mean.. often its like 1995-1999.....or..."ALL XT600E" :) all xt600e mean "all xt600e" literally" :)

Ive found that kedo.de is the best site I LIKE.. (im in europe though..) ....but not germany.. but i like that site..for some strange reason... they also send a yearly catalog for free...not that that count as im checking theyr site once a month for stuff that i dont need :P

This was a Yamaha rack, advertised on Yamaha's website with a Yamaha part number and ordered through a Yamaha dealer. Looks like the aftermarket is more in tune with the bikes than the manufacturer!

The rack is fine (although it rusted quicker than I expected) and works well, even if I had to do a bit of bodging to get it to fit.
