3TB swinging arm protector
Due to age my swinging arm chain protector has broken in two. I will try and bodge it back together but are there any cheap/ used ones out there?
Or an elegant solution.. Cheers Min |
Cheapest ones I have seen are in Greece. Not purchased one myself so can't comment on the postage costs or level of service. Perhaps a good excuse for a trip? https://www.e-moto.gr/en/7178_0_chai...4PT2215100.htm

Didn't see this earlier , but the TT600 protectors fit the older XT's at least(I believe same with the 3TB as well) and were only $14 compared to the $60 for the XT's . They are made out of UHMW instead of the Teflon mix of the XT's so are louder , you can hear the chain slapping and sliding on it thus why the XT's are the softer material . Once chain lube is smeared on and other gunk the noise goes down .
I even wrapped some of mine with strips of Gorilla tape where the chain slides , making sure the ends of the tape are wrapped underneath so they're pinched under the slider and stay tight . Unbelievable how long that stuff has lasted . Another option that I've done is screwing 1/4 strip of Teflon on the topside so the chain slides on it (I have cheap access to the stuff) instead of the base protector , if it ever wears out I just slap on a new strip. . |
Had the rear wheel out the other afternoonputting new rubbers in an servicing the rear caliper. Thought I would clean the dirt from the swinging arm. Eeeeek it is rotted through underneath. Quick check on ebay secured me an arm with linkages and shipping from Germany to London. €60 inclusive.
Relevant point is that it came with an original swingarm protector. Ah well. Cheers Min |
