43f not charging ?
 

Hi all

have a 85 xt600 43f
i have worked through the electrosport fault finding guide got a few inconclusive results
i suspect the regulator / rectifier is faulty
has anyone fitted a later type r/r from something like a modern yamaha r1 or do i have to use one specific for my bike ?

The older bikes I don't know which ones can be swapped , though I'm sure there are some . newer ones can be swapped with a MOSFET type instead of the shunt style to save the stator some .

Double check wiring on the Electrosport stator and pickup coil , very common for them to have wires backwards.

yes thats what i was thinking of the later mosfett type, only trouble i can see is the original has 2 stator wires and the later type r/r has 3 stator wires
could i just connect up to 2 of them ?

I'm sure there is a way , unfortunately I haven't done it or heard of who has .

Does it earth through its body?
Worth cleaning up the mounting screws and contact area.
