84 tt600 chain protector on 84xt600?
Does anyone know if the chain protector, the one on top of the swing arm that the chain runs across, from a 1984 TT600 will work on the same year XT600? The TT one is a 3rd the price so I would rather do that if it will work.

I don't think so, all the XT chain slides I've seen are bolted to the side of the swingarm and wraps around top and bottom.

Check the height and screw holes.

Does it look like this, only without the extra strip on top(that's my Teflon addition to extend wear). I've not seen some of the older XT's, but '87-89 are like this.

Sorry mezo, I already put it on the bike These are the only picture I took. Mine is as white as it gets. The Part number that my 84 XT600 calls for is 34L-22147-00 and the part number that I ordered and that came on the bag is 5X6-22147-01. Notice that the main part number is the same.

Great, I'm ordering 2 or 3 of them since I seem to be acquiring more XT's every week and all have no protectors. I thought it was going to get expensive. I've found a bunch of parts on these bikes now that are the same on other models even quads and way cheaper to boot, part numbers are the same in the middle, just the first couple digits vary, I see a pattern.
Raptor quad2nd & 5th gear looks to be the same, a common failure on XT's and Tenere's. I'm researching the Raptor TCI also, it may be able to be used on the E-start versions and I got one for $35. Tons of them over here. |
Mezo, Looks exactly the same to me :thumbup1:
