'94 Xt660....

Hi, Seen a '94 XT(Z?)660 Tenere in a local dealers. Only asking about £1200. Anybody own one of these? Anything to look out for on these? Any advice appreciated!
Cheers, Tim xx

Hi Tim,

The XTZ660 is a great bike. Being twin carb, it's a tad more complicated than the XT600 and a bit heavier, but it's got more power and comes with a bigger fuel tank etc as standard.

What are you planning to do with it, because if you're planning an overland trip, I'm seriously considering selling mine and it's fully prepped with all the gear.

Let me know what you think and I could send you the details.

Mmmmm...........

Hi BD! thanks for the reply, I saw your thread asking for a value and I did think mmmmmm! Have you settled on a price yet? I'm not planning an overland trip right this minute but if the right bike comes along then it would be foolish to let it slip! Have you done any serious off roading on it and if so, how did it handle? Where abouts are you by the way?
Tim.

I've got a '95 and I only live a few miles from you so you can check it out if you like. £1,200 sounds a bit steep unless its in great condition. Definitely ride it first if you're not used to big singles. Mine is great, but if I was doing a road based tour I would use a bigger bike.

I have just PM'd you but didn't see your question about offroad... nothing serious as yet, but the gravel tracks and rocky mountain roads that I have ridden it on - it's been great, although if you're used to a nimble 250, the fully loaded weight takes some getting used to. Other than that it was sweet as.:thumbup1:
