Acerbis 23l tank for XT600e
Hi, does anybody know what the reserve capacity of this tank is?
I've just bought one and it seems to use nearly 22l before going onto reserve. stuart |
No -- but logic tells me to drain it into a graduated jug or bottle .

Hi
I'm interested to buy an 23 L acerbis fuel tank too for my XT.
Can you please tell me where did you boght it an what was the price. I think it replaced the tho small carrens too. Can you post a picture or two with the tank mounted ? Than you :Beach: |
actually there are two different Acerbis tanks for XT600E, the one from 1990 to 1994 that is 20 liters and the one from 1995 to 2003 that is 23 liters.
23 liters pics you can find her, in Ted's page: Ted Magnum - Home |
The acerbis is a brilliant tank..
Fits perfectly and is very crash proof. It does come in blue, white or black but white is the only colour that anyone can seem to get hold of (hence why mine is white). The plastic fuel lines and Y-piece adaptors you get with them are CRAP so buy some 8mm steel braided fuel line from: VWP - pipes & hose Plastic Y-pieces.... The tank has two taps which need to go into one for the carb so a y-piece is required. Plastic Y-pieces are CRAP.. They always break when you remove the tank. Buy some Steel ones, i got mine from Demon Tweaks. Again, 8mm. I will add some more photos too my gallery showing the fuel line setup. |
Acerbis Tank
I had an acerbis tank on the suzuki dr350 i used to have, perfect fit and they look good and can take knocks ok,Got another for my XT in white, Looked into painting it to match the bike colour(blue) but was put off by the cost of paint.£130! for a half litre, three pack paint seemingly, also can be very tricky to paint.

Adjust size of your reserve...
Im not familiar with the Acerbis tap setup, but Im sure it works on the same principal as most others. There is a ridgid steel tube extending upward from the tap inside the tank. If you lengthen this tube you increase the "size" of your reserve, shorten it and get the reverse... I cut and drilled my old tube out and replaced with a similar diameter... I guess you cold also weld on an extra inch or so instead of replacing the full tube or even slip a bit of ridgid plastic tube over it to extend it.
Ja ja? Good ja? Jim |

Why not carry some spair fuel on your bike in a can & then when you swich to reserve run it till i stops . Then you will know how far it will take you.
