my knowledge is not unlimited, but as far as i know every 3AJ (or 3DS) was equipped with e-start.
so i guess your left side crankcase half is something else, but not 3AJ (or 1VJ or 3TB...).
maybe we can discuss this on the swedish tenere-meeting växjö 6.-9.06.
