ANY 'EXTRAS'...how to make it 'go' a bit faster?..
i got all excited when I saw the link to the german site, installed a translator on windows 10 and excitedly opened the site.
hmm...how to make it go better(rough translation)... tried to 'do' the mod only to realise that its only for the ttr and not ttre.. So anyone got any hints and tips?.... |

Set the valves at correct TDC ;-)
Runs out of puff at 50mph? 3rd gear should hit well over 60mph before redlining... So something is definitely off. Still not 100% certain on which bike we speak of, xt660r should be the never 5 valve fuel injected ones. Theres dedicated forums for them, and peaople acchieve around 50hp meassured at the real wheel after mods. But you talk about jetkits, carbs ect...? /me be like :blink: |

The genuine manual says there two sets of markings. First set is two separate lines that are for the ignition timing and the second,single line that indicates TDC.
I have just set them using a new set of feeler gauges,following exactly the same process as I did the first two times using different sets of feeler gauges(which are now in the bin) Much quieter... Only problem now is it wont tickover!!!:innocent: |
You are not talking about same thing, the mark is only one way correct. But if you turn engine 360 degree around the mark is still there, but valves are not open. So big question is, did you set them at the correct position first time? If they where stuck before you started you started adjusting on the wrong TDC, if you got the feeler gauge down there and they was about correct you did it on the correct turn.

in any case, thanks for the huge american scene around the raptor quads, there are tons of go fast parts (and in english sites :) ) , both for the 5 valve and the newer 4 valve motors. your xt660r is a four valve right? a bigger piston with say 10.5-11:1 compression should add quite a bit of drive would stay away from the 12:1 for street use. |
I'm from Derby....and I ridea ttr 600 e ..for now.
Just been out on a 20 mile 'test' ride. Nearly came home after 1. Bogs down around 40 and wont go above 60. Seriously thinking about getting a xt660r now |
