Bolts\Hardware
Hi All
Quick one I hope... Where do you all source replacement bolts from? I've obviously seen the specbolt and Bolt Motorcycle hardware stuff - any other options? Cheers Jim |
Here in the States?
McMaster-carr or Fastenall |
For factory bolts and fasteners(correct finish/look) Boats.net or Partzilla. Just be warned of Boats.net, if one item out of 100 is backordered, they will sit on the order till that 1 bolt is in, even if it takes 1 year.
For SS and such, McMaster is a great source. |
FWIW most major municipalities have a bolt house or two. The same applies to bearing suppliers and other sources. Ordering such things online can become an exercise in frustration. Buying locally gets you better service and equal or lower prices than online and you get the parts in your hot little hands right over the counter immediately.
Here's one of several which may be local to you: http://www.boltmasters.com.au/wawcs0...Melbourne.html |
Yep, forgot about that^^^ . I've bought a few "boxes of bolts". $20 gets you $75-worth of bolts. Just have to watch out for the rusted junk.

OK cheers guys, appreciate the tips.
jjrider, I'm not too concerned about authentic look but appreciate the tip. lzrdbrth, I'm more than happy to hand over cash locally - these places usually sell to retail then - like a few bits at a time? I don't obviously need 200 bolts.... I guess the obvious answer is to give 'em a call.... Mezo - yeah, I'm on the look out on ebay. Obviously I'm a bit of a newb at bike rebuilds - I've got history with engine-out car work - so appreciate the tips. 10.9 grade bolts are OK right? |
