Bought myself an XT!!!Which racks, boxes, ....

Hi Klaus !
I 've bought myself today a used XT, year 2000 model, 4200km for 6400DEM(2000GBP) not very cheap but ok.
I also have a new XR400 but 6.5l/100km was a bit too much fuel...if I get a good price the XR will go, if not it will be used on sundays or special occasions.
I was looking a bit at Gericke/Polo/Louis brochures, but which "gadgets"I should buy where?Rack: Five Stars or Hepco...Main stand??? Boxes? Darr or Polo...I live in Belgium so it's only a short drive to Germany to got the gear.
What about Goetz?I only have an old brochure, are they any good?I love gadgets, Kedo had something called "Ventilkugel...etwas" I think you put it instead of the screws for the valve clearance and it should make the intervals much longer(every 10.000kms???) too good to be true?
Tomorrow I get my licence plate, time for a ride!!!
Thanks for advice,

hi ward!
first: congratulations and have much fun with her!
second: i don't have experience with racks and boxes from any of the known manufacturers, i make all these things by myself. in my opinion all what you can buy is too big (boxes) or not well enough adapted to the frame (racks). my principle is: the more luggage you carry with you, the more problems you have.
out of this what you can buy on the market isn't bad, no matter which manufacturer. so it depends on your personal taste and the price.
here you can get a perfect overview on the available systems: http://www.reiseenduro.de/users/carl...ffer/index.htm
main stand: i was never in need of a main stand, so why adding surplus kilos to the bike? it is one thing more which can cause trouble.
valve clearance:
i have no experience with this type of screws. i'm fully satisfied with the original screws. the need to adjust valve clearance doesn't depend only on the screws, but more on the condition of the cylinder head, the way you treat your bike etc.
really worth its money is this special valve clearance adjustment tool which kedo offers. look also here: http://www.xt600.de/cgi-bin/dcforum/...ForumID6&omm=1

hi eduard,
i ve cheched touratech before, they offer me alu boxes for(2) sides with racks, no topcase, price was about 1080 DEM.
but i bought 45 lt Givi topcase (330DEM) with an apparatus from givi again, namely monorack (200 DEM), these are prices in Turkey.
these metal topcase holders max. carriage capacity is 3,2 kg so i can say dont go for a bigger topcase.

Be careful with GIVI monorack ! -if the plastic boxes are really much better than ALU ones (could stand strong crashes) the rack need to be reinforced ! the plate-box connection is OK , the plate-rack connection is CRAP ! :-(( same above for NONFANGO systems ..they really works as original only on road bikes
