Brown smoke from exhaust???

Hi guys, when i rev my engine heavily im getting quite a thick. light brown cloud from the exhuast. Im guessin its from built up crud in the silencer. Before I fitted I did give it a few taps and shook out some crap but I guess I didnt get it all. Is there a proper wat to clean ot a silencer that hasnt been used for a couple of years?

Cheers,

Rob

hi there if your ex is like my standard 1985 43f silancer there seems to be some kind off wadding sound deadning stuff between the outer and inner skins so that rules out costic soda . i would remove the baffle then tap the ex all over and take it for a blast to blow the cobwebs out , you can always poke around with a piece off wire .4 stroke pipes dont usually bung up unless they are rotten inside or the bike has been burning a lot of oil and smoking like a 2 stroke . a mate had a 600e and the baffle was stuck in with crap , so they can be hard to remove. :thumbup1:
