carb and jetting issue

Ok...had the carb apart countless times on my xt600 1vj...classic....intermittent idle....runs ok for a few minutes and cuts out....runs ok at 1700 rpm but blip the throttle and it cuts out....all needles and jets seem fine.....mods are opened up airbox and aftermarket two brothers exhaust....too loud....dropped the clip on the needle down one clip to thin out mixture but still same problems....anyone got any ideas?...all rubbers and sealings are fine but still pops and runs rough at idle...all ridicule welcome too....

Go up a couple of sizes of your pilot jet one size at a time and see what happens.

Go up a size on the main jet.

Do a plug chop.

Rinse and repeat.

Or put back to factory airbox/exhaust/jetting.

You're welcome.

Most of the times, the XT comes over-rich mixture from factory... so unless you've done major engine work, you can stick to the stock carb settings.

you should have in mind however that elevation from sea level, air temperature and humidity influence your air/fuel mixture!

There is a small filter inside the carb, you can clean this and problably fix your problem. https://www.google.no/search?q=yamah...om%3B480%3B364
