Carb Mixture Screw, XT600E
I am in the mountains in South America and would like to know what the mixture screw in the carburetor does. I have a 2003 XT600E. If I turn the screw out, anticlockwise, does it let more fuel or air in? I need to increase the amount of air in the mixture. Thanks for your help guys.

I do think this change fuel in low rpm, but when you get the second carb in action it dont make difference. Screw it in for less fuel.

When the screw is located in front of the carb (like on the xt600, and just about every other 4-stroke), its a co-screw / Gas-screw. So you adjust the amount of gas.
Out = more gas. If you need to go out over 3 turns out from fully seated, you need a larger pilotjet, and start the adjustement again. The adjustement of the screw only makes difference at idle, and just above idle. It wont affect mid and high-range. A larger pilot jet will affect midrange ever so slightly aswell. |
It will only effect your idle... If you're having mixture problems you're better off changing the height of the needle.

Thanks guys. There is consensus that the screw controls the fuel. I knew I could count on the HU community to answer my question.
