carb screw
 

the mixture adjusting screw on my 3aj tenere carb, is it to adjust the air or the fuel ie when i adjust the screw is it adding/reducing fuel or adding/reducing air?

i guess it is fuel but does anyone know for sure?

Unfamiliar with the bike but if it's a (brass)screw on the underside of the carb & it's on the cylinder head side (rear) of the carb, then it adjusts fuel.

Set it the manufacturers spec & adjust accordingly to compensate for aftermarket exhausts or filters etc by screwing in/out 1/8 of a turn at a time.

If it pops & bangs on the overrun & the exhaust & carb are airtight, then you're running weak which means you need to adjust the screw outwards to allow extra fuel in & vice versa.

That's what i thought, and yes it does pop a little on the overrun, which is why i was about to adjust it to add more fuel. Just wanted to be clear in my mind which way it worked.
