Carbs that fit/interchange w/ a 1990 xt600e
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, and from what I've seen so far I'm very happy to be here.
Long story short, i picked up a non-running xt600e from 90' for $500 about a month back, would really love to see it up and moving soon but the only issue is the bike sat for a while... I've changed/cleaned everything else out, now I'm on the carbs and has it been a job. I bought a $20 rebuild kit off eBay, but once i opened those pups (the carbs) up I probably should've got a new set, being honest. Judge for yourself in the pictures below... I've been slowly cleaning out all the rust in the bowls/on the brass/in the components. I still plan on reusing the carbs, but just as a fall back I was curious what other years of xt's carbs could fit on a 1990 xt600e, as well as if the eac (california model) would work. I've looked all over the inter webs and no answer to that. Please help a fellow xt lover out! Attachment 18174 Attachment 18175 Attachment 18176 |
Also to clarify, I was trying to see if anyone knows if an 80's xt carb could work with my 1990. I feel dumb asking this but being a broke college kid, I'm not trying to buy something that won't fit and not be able to return it. Once again any input/help is very appreciated.

Sorry but I don't know what carbs will fit BUT thought id suggest you get yours sonic cleaned...might be cheaper in the long run and at least youll know there the right ones and the jets etc will be correct.

I've been cleaning them slowly, ill post some pics when I'm finished and let you all know how they turned out. If I do go for the sonic cleaned, which I looked into at one point, what would be a fair price? Every place I looked at prices were different/some did automotive only. What would you say is a reasonable price to pay? Thank you for the advice as well.

I have found this site: https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/...600e-1997.aspx very useful for getting part numbers. Maybe you could try identifying the 1990 number and looking for other years that match it.

Carbs from 90-03 will fit.

Automotive/bike = same thing in my eyes. Sonic cleaning is the same process no matter. IF you were to buy a set of 2nd hand carbs you don't know what kinda condition there going to be in when you get them, unless you buy them from a forum member. Could be different jets, torn diaphragms etc not to mention dodgy screws. if you can get yours sorted , I personally would. |
All carbs from any year XT or TT 600 will fit . They have changed jetting and bore size but they'll all work on your bike . Mid to late 80's are better , but mostly just the way they are jetted. May have to fine tune jetting.

In my experience, just about all of the used carbs being sold are in pretty bad state, they might appear clean, but that doesnt meen the internals arent worn.

Spare carbs for sale?
So upon further cleaning of my carbs, i found out that someone else attempted to go ahead and give them a shot before me... (stripped screws/damaged internals - how awesome!)
It's going to take too much time/effort at this point to re-use my current carbs. So on that note: Who has carbs i might be able to purchase? Please get back to me when you can, would be awesome to have my xt on the road before the season is out. I have also been checking eBay almost everyday but not much luck there. -Seth |
