CDI or TCI??

Hi all... dumb question but anyway, does the 1990 XT600E have a CDI or a TCI unit?

I'm checking this out:

YAMAHA XT400 XT 400 XT550 XT 550 XT600 XT 600 IGNITION - eBay (item 190236879090 end time Jul-23-08 21:28:42 PDT)

Any remarks?

Of course I've seen these for sale before, and they didn't fit my '92.But that was a few years ago and he may have extended his range. But I think he is the same guy who sold me a Tenerie tank - ''Sure it'll fit, they are all the same mate''....yeah right.

Get back to him with the number and colour of your wires.

CDI or TCI

All the XT with E-starter have TCI. The few with kick only, are CDI.

Sure 100%.

But these performance ignition unit have no sense if your unit is ok... they cannot do miracles. Timing curve is already optimized to give the best compromise. When someone says that a modified unit can give more torque, more power and may be less consumption, (talking in general) is a liar.
There are plenty of sites with schematics to do these units by yourself, and in this case they r a cheap replacements for a damaged unit, but again CDI only.
